YIN yoga works with your connective tissue, joints, ligaments and tendons. Long held poses apply soft pressure to these areas to increase flexibility, release tension, trapped emotion and "juice" up the body....making it more lubricated.
It's a great addition to any yang practice as it opens up the body allowing you to deepen your asana. It's also great for the restless mind because it teaches us to how to find our own stillness and to perhaps address what might be buried deep inside. it's a hugely internal and personal practice.
